Lectors

Mission:

To help the People of God to hear God’s voice: his message of mercy and salvation, his command to love. To rouse the faith of the assembly and inspire them to discipleship by proclaiming the Word of the Lord with clarity and conviction.

About This Ministry:

The Lector’s principal duty is to serve the assembled community by proclaiming the readings from Scripture during the Liturgy of the Mass.

Commitment:

Lectors are scheduled to read at 2 or 3 masses each quarter year. Lectors are asked to always keep their scheduled commitment or find a replacement. They also may be asked to fill in or switch masses with other Lectors due to scheduling conflicts.

Activities:

Preparation for proclaiming the Scripture readings is very important and it is highly recommended. A Lector workbook is provided to help with the preparation.

Who Should Consider Joining:

All parishioners that that have received the Sacrament of Confirmation and are 15 or older are eligible. Proclaiming the Word of God is a special privilege in service to our parish community.
