Prayers:

Your child should know:

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Meal Prayer, Act of Contrition, Sign of the Cross

Prayer is listening and talking to God

5 types of Prayer are:

  1. Adoration – when we tell God that we love Him

Liturgical year

Your child show know:

The Liturgical year begins on the 1st Sunday of Advent

Advent – when we prepare to celebrate Christ’s coming at Christmas

Lent – when we prepare to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead on Easter

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends with the celebration of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday.

Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified

Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday are the days we call the Easter Triduum.

Easter is the day of Jesus’ resurrection (He rose from the dead)

Beatitudes

Your child should know:

They are the teachings given to us by Jesus for true happiness

There are eight beatitudes

  1. Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven
  2. Blessed are they who mourn; for they will be comforted
  3. Blessed are the meek; for they will inherit the land
  4. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness; for they will be satisfied
